We can help you post your job openings on WorkinTexas.com. Your Job Postings offer job matching and access to job seekers throughout the Workforce Solutions Job Seeker System and the general public.
Are you losing staff and trying to explore your options? Our Business Services personnel will provide local labor market information regarding the current job market, including help determining prevailing wages for your area.
Can’t find the perfect candidate but are willing to train the person you hire? Before hiring an individual, let us determine if the individual is WIOA eligible. Your company could be reimbursed 50-75% of the potential new hire's wages during their training period if eligible.
We provide targeted retraining opportunities through local colleges and training providers for qualifying persons who need additional skills to become self-sufficient. Therefore, Workforce Solutions has individuals requesting/completing training that could match openings in your company.
Interested in a “try before you buy” opportunity? We place qualified job seekers with limited Work Experience into jobs for a “earn while you learn” opportunity. We are the employer of record during the training period and pay the prevailing salary for the position. The employer is not required to hire the trainee at the end of the training period.
Are you concerned about your new hire and their background? TWC and Workforce Solutions East Texas offer free fidelity bonding services to reduce employers’ concerns about hiring at-risk job applicants who cannot be bonded through other sources. TWC’s procured insurance group issues a policy protecting the employer against employee acts of dishonesty, such as larceny, embezzlement, and theft. The bonding is free for six months. After six months, bonding becomes the employer’s responsibility. Bonding is usually issued for $5,000 with no deductible.
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a federal income tax benefit administered by the U.S. Department of Labor for employers who hire individuals from specified target populations. WOTC reduces a business’s federal tax liability ($2,400 to $9,600), serving as an incentive to select job candidates who may be disadvantaged in their efforts to find employment. This can include veterans, individuals on state benefits, ex-felons, individuals with disabilities, SSI recipients, and Summer Earn And Learn participants.
The Childcare Services program provides childcare assistance (financial aid) to families who meet income requirements and work/school minimum hours. The program promotes long-term self-sufficiency by enabling parents to work or attend educational activities.
Vocational Rehabilitation Services provides businesses with awareness, education, hiring, and retention services for hiring people with disabilities. VR can also assist businesses that have employees with disabilities to develop services and accommodations. This may even include providing employees with adaptive aids to help them maintain their employment and productivity.
Incumbent workers are defined as employees who have been employed six months before the training. This program enables businesses to strengthen their ability to compete in the job market by training incumbent employees in areas they determine are needed. The purpose is to prepare employees to better perform their jobs to avoid layoffs.
The Skills Development Fund program assists businesses and trade unions by financing the design and implementation of customized job-training projects. This fund successfully merges business needs and local customized training opportunities into a winning formula to increase the skills levels and wages of the Texas workforce. Success is achieved through collaboration among businesses, the public community, technical colleges, Workforce Solutions East Texas and economic development partners. Inquire at skills@twc.texas.gov.
Provides funds for use by small businesses (fewer than 100 employees) to purchase training for their full-time employees. This may be up to $1,800 per new hire and up to $900 per incumbent worker. All training must be provided by a public community or technical college or the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service. No third-party vendor training is allowed. Inquire at SkillsforSmallBusiness@twc.texas.gov.
