Workforce Solutions East Texas (WSET) is pleased to announce a new Access Point partner location established at Jarvis Christian College, opening on Wednesday, November 3. Access Point locations are service locations where WSET has established partnerships with community organizations to set up a place for job seekers to receive on-site assistance. These sites have a WSET resource area where job seekers can register for WorkInTexas.com, receive assistance with job searches, register for professional development workshops, and access resources during their staffed service hours.
The Jarvis Christian College Access Point location is in Hawkins at US HWY 80 East, Private Road 7631. It will be staffed every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. WSET invites the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 3 at 11:30 a.m. in the Meyers building entrance and foyer to hear from Jarvis President, Dr. Lester Newman, and WSET leadership.
“Workforce Solutions East Texas can only reach our participants through partnerships and contractor staff. We’re fortunate to have an upstanding partner in Jarvis Christian College and look forward to a fruitful relationship, serving the needs of our fellow East Texans. JCC is known for its quality and commitment to students’ success. Together, we anticipate bringing Texas’ tax dollars home and putting them to work for our entire region by laying the foundations for productive, long-term careers!” said WSET Executive Director Doug Shryock.
Newman agrees. “Sharpening job skills is a key step for anyone interested in preparing for a new career or in being more effective in their current job,” Newman said. “This partnership with Workforce Solutions East Texas empowers us to better assist members of the public to succeed.”
WSET also has partner locations with Kilgore College, Rains County Library in Emory, Texas Tech Satellite Campus in Jefferson, the Library at Cedar Creek Lake in Seven Points, and St. Louis Baptist Church in Tyler.
